Peregrine’s interface is designed with simplicity in mind. Navigating through menus and accessing critical information is straightforward, making it an excellent choice for divers of all experience levels.

This Dive Computer supports multiple dive modes, including Gauge, Air, Nitrox (max 40% Oxygen), and three different Nitrox Deco Mixes up to 100% Oxygen. Whether you’re a recreational diver or exploring more advanced depths, the Peregrine adapts to your needs.

Performance

Shearwater Peregrine Computer with DiverFirstly, In real-world testing, the Shearwater Peregrine impressed me with its accuracy and responsiveness. The display remains legible in various lighting conditions, and the algorithm adapts well to different dive profiles. The audible alarms are sufficiently loud, ensuring divers don’t miss critical alarms.

It has a very responsive and easy to navigate through menu, with can be easily accessed by a push button on either side to give access to every menu in no time.

With a surprisingly bright display and a depth rating of 120 meter, this dive computer can be used in all diving scenarios. From day dives to night dives, wreck, caves and even deep dives. Once you try. a computer with such a nice display is very difficult to go back!

Also, the display is very clean and easy to read, with all the needed information nicely displayed throughout the screen. With a single touch on one of the push buttons you can flick through other settings such as minimum temperature reached or maximum depth reached during the dive.

Having used the Shearwater Peregrine Dive Computer extensively in many different dive environments, I can say that this is the perfect investment for the recreational diver who wants a more advanced and capable dive computer.

 

Pros and Cons

At first glance, the Shearwater Peregrine Dive Computer seems to have only Pros to it, but its main flaw is that if falls short if you intend to go down the Technical diving route.

As this dive computer doesn’t support different gas mixes (helium) it may not be the ideal choice for you if you intend to get started on the Technical diving world. If that’s the case, then make sure to check the other Shearwater dive computer as the higher-end models cover all your technical diving needs!

Pros:

•   Affordability: The Shearwater Peregrine provides high-end features at a more accessible price point.

•   Intuitive Interface: Easy navigation makes it suitable for divers of all experience levels.

•   Durable Build: The robust construction ensures longevity, even in challenging diving environments.

Cons:

•   Limited Advanced Features: Some advanced divers may find the Peregrine lacking certain features available in higher-end Shearwater models.

 

Conclusion

A commendable addition to Shearwater’s lineup, The Shearwater Peregrine Dive Computer offers a balance of performance and affordability. Its user-friendly interface, reliable safety features, and durable build make it an excellent choice for both novice and experienced divers. While it may not have all the bells and whistles of its higher-priced counterparts, the Peregrine provides exceptional value for its cost.

Nevertheless, this Dive computer is a superb addition to any serious diver out there, and at a price of 500 Euros at the time of writing this post, this is definitely a great addition to any divers kit!

I have been personally using Shearwater dive computer for the past four years and I don’t think I’ll switch any time soon, the algorithm, ergonomics and ease of use have definitely been thoroughly thought when designing this dive computers.
